MangaLens × MangaPlus

Read MangaPlus in Any Language, Not Just the Eight Shueisha Ships

MangaPlus is Shueisha's official simulpub home for Shonen Jump — One Piece, Jujutsu Kaisen, Kagurabachi, every Jump title, day of release, legally and for free. But it only ships chapters in about eight languages. If you read in Arabic, Hindi, Korean, German, Italian, Filipino, or any of 50+ others, MangaLens fills the gap.

When MangaLens Helps Most on MangaPlus

MangaPlus is genuinely great — official, free, day-of-release, legally licensed. The catch is that its official translation team covers a deliberately small set of languages. That leaves a specific kind of reader stuck.

Use case

Reading Jump in Arabic, Hindi, German, Italian, or Korean

MangaPlus officially supports English, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, French, Thai, Indonesian, and Vietnamese — and nothing else. If you speak Arabic, Hindi, Korean, German, Turkish, Polish, Filipino, or Japanese-as-a-second-language, the official site has no version for you. MangaLens does.

Use case

Reading the Japanese edition directly (no English middleman)

MangaPlus also makes selected chapters available in the original Japanese. Translating those directly into your language, rather than re-translating from the English edition, gives you a more faithful read — closer to what the author actually wrote.

Use case

Day-of-release new-series launches

When Shueisha launches a new Jump series on MangaPlus, the first few chapters land in the official set of languages immediately and other languages never. MangaLens lets you sample new series on launch day in your language — no waiting for community translation.

How It Works on MangaPlus

1

Install MangaLens

Add the Chrome extension once. Works on Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, Opera, and Vivaldi.

2

Open a chapter on mangaplus.shueisha.co.jp

Pick any chapter — free ones, the first/latest free window, or paid chapters you've unlocked.

3

Translate

Click the MangaLens icon, pick a language MangaPlus doesn't officially offer, and every speech bubble is re-translated in place.

Why MangaPlus Doesn't Cover Your Language (and Why That Won't Change Soon)

Each official MangaPlus language requires a paid in-house translation and lettering team for every chapter, every week. Shueisha picks a tight set of high-volume markets and ships those. Adding a new language for the official site means hiring a new team — a years-long product decision, not a software feature toggle. MangaLens is software, not a translation studio, and it can serve every language Google Translate, DeepL, and modern LLMs cover without that organizational overhead.

MangaLens does not log in to MangaPlus, does not modify your bookmarks or free-chapter unlock state, and does not interact with Shueisha's servers beyond what your browser already does. Pages you translate are sent to the translation server only on click, processed in real time, and discarded — never stored, never used to train models. See our Privacy Policy.

MangaPlus-Specific Questions

Why do I need a translator on MangaPlus — isn't it already in English?

MangaPlus officially supports only a small set of languages — English, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, French, Thai, Indonesian, and Vietnamese. If you read in Arabic, Hindi, Korean, German, Italian, Filipino, Turkish, Polish, or any of the other 50+ languages MangaLens supports, MangaPlus has no official version for you.

Does MangaLens work on the MangaPlus web reader?

Yes. Open any chapter at mangaplus.shueisha.co.jp in your browser, click the MangaLens icon, and the speech bubbles in the official English (or another supported language) edition are re-translated into your chosen language in place.

Can MangaLens translate the Japanese version of MangaPlus chapters?

Yes. MangaPlus offers selected chapters in the original Japanese as well. MangaLens auto-detects Japanese and translates directly from the source, which preserves nuance better than re-translating the English edition.

Does it work on simulpub day-of-release chapters?

Yes. On simulpub day, every MangaPlus chapter — including the newest free-to-read ones — can be translated in place. No waiting for a fan re-translation in your language to appear elsewhere.

Will using MangaLens get my MangaPlus account flagged?

MangaLens does not log in to MangaPlus, does not touch your account, your reading list, or your free-chapter timers. It only modifies what's displayed in your browser window — Shueisha's servers see the same traffic they would from any normal MangaPlus reader.
